I just wish to post my congratulations on a job well done (OK, I know it's not "totally done"...) Almost every other math application for the iPhone is a simulation of a handheld calculator, and THIS one is SO COOL. Excellent work!

I am still working on the

I am still working on the desktop version of Pi Cubed, in parallel with my updates to the iPhone application. I hope to be able to start beta testing in the early fall.

The desktop client will be Mac-only, and may even require Snow Leopard, depending on the computational capabilities I want to implement in it. Unfortunately, there would be no practical way to port this across to Windows, as many of the core elements of this application use Apple-specific frameworks that have no equivalent on Windows. I'd much rather invest my time in making a high-quality Mac-only application than a mediocre cross-platform one. Given the increased penetration of Macs within the educational market (particularly among college students), I don't believe this will be as significant of an issue as it has been in the past.

If the rumors of an Apple tablet also pan out, that would be another attractive platform for this application.

As a math teacher, I like the

As a math teacher, I like the prospect of a desktop version of Pi Cubed. I think there is a particularly useful similarity between the touchscreen of the iPhone/iPod and the electronic whiteboards used increasingly in classrooms. I have been using a SMART Board with my school-issued Dell for several years, and I have thought it would be great to have a program that effectively uses a touchscreen approach to manipulating the abstract symbols used in math. Do you think a PC version would ever be in the works? I think a program of this type could become quite popular among educators.

I have already downloaded Pi Cubed and promptly recommended it to a friend, who is also very happy with his purchase. Thanks for such a wonderful app and keep up the great work! I would also like to express my interest in a desktop (Mac) version of Pi Cubed — I'd be more than glad to pay for it. :-)

Thanks. I'm very happy with how it turned out, although there's a lot I'd still like to get into it. We'll see how well it does in a market dominated by 13-year-old boys, or if it even gets noticed at all. In any case, I'll keep working on it, because my next projects will be Mac desktop clients for both this and Molecules, and those won't be quite the undertaking this was.
